Still life of cherry blossom, pear, heirloom tomato, melon, plum, grapes, and butterfly. Chiaroscuro is the Latin term for “light and dark” — an art technique used by many European artists and painters. I love applying it here to draw attention to the fruit and its luscious detail. Cherry blossoms are an absolute joy to witness after a long grey winter. This image makes me think of spring and all of its promised beauty, life, and bounty.
