This image was inspired by Caravaggio’s “Boy with a Basket of Fruit” at Borghese Gallery in Florence, Italy. It was a painting that I could stare at forever — the lush details of the fruit, the portrait, and the life that emanated from a painting that was created over 500 years ago. The timelessness and artistry of the artwork were astounding.

Here is my take on it, with Korean pears, a selection of my taxidermy butterflies, and grapevines from my parent’s garden. My ode to Caravaggio, whose paintings inspired so much inspiration 🦋

This image is available on my website as a print. A piece you can immortalize in over your kitchen table or living space. A reminder of beauty, the absolute need for it in everyday life, and the joy of being able to create it.
